Today marks the first of many (too many!) free lunch (box) Thursdays!
My goal is to find new and loving homes for all of the lunch gear I accumulated while photographing my upcoming cookbook, “Beating the Lunch Box Blues,” which is based on this blog. For more details about that, check out yesterday’s entry.
Every Thursday until I run out of gear (it will be a while), I’ll be giving away another batch of lunch boxes, lunch gear, thermoses, whatever.
Everything I’m giving away was new when I got it, but has been used once or twice for the photos in my book.
How to enter? Each week, you can get up to two chances to win. The easiest way is to leave a comment on the Thursday (today’s) post. If you want a second chance to win each week, post a link to the Thursday post on Facebook to encourage others to enter. Be sure to tag me in the post so I know to give you an extra chance. This is me on Facebook. And to be fair, you can win only once.
Every Thursday before he goes to bed, Parker will pick a winner at random. I’ll announce the winner in Friday’s post.
So, this week’s gear is…
It’s a pair of really cute bento boxes. Each one has three removable food containers, a snap-on lid and a carrying bag.
As for Parker’s lunch today… He’s on vacation. So we’re heading downtown to do some holiday shopping, then are hitting our favorite bakery for some lunch. I get the day off!

Those bento boxes are adorable! I’d love a chance to win one!
These are super cute. I almost bought some this year for my middle child because he’s got a hard time opening some of the bento boxes.
Aloha from Hawaii! I love this blog! Thank you for sharing. I wish my niece & nephew were even a little adventurous as your son Parker! He is such a great eater!
Thanks so much! Give it time and just keep introducing new foods. They’ll get there. Living in the test kitchen of the AP, Parker doesn’t have much choice but to be exposed to a wild variety of food!
Hope I win!
I love watching Parker’s lunch post–some of these ideas have been great.
Thanks! And he loves the pseudo attention. He gets “recognized” around town for his lunches. Totally loves it.
Have a great day off together!
Thanks! We had an awesome day of reading, shopping, lunching and — because I’m insane — a holiday party at his karate school.
I would love to win one. I am reaffirming my commitment to bring my lunch every day in 2013. A new snazzy lunch container would it so much more fun.
I agree! Gizmos and toys make all the difference re: motivation.
Love your blog and excited to hear that a book is in the near future!
Thanks so much!
I’m an adult with no children but would still like one of these for myself! Happy Holidays!
Enjoy your day off! We have a snow day here in SE Minnesota, so a cozy day at home. Thanks for the great meal ideas!
Thanks! We’ve barely had any snow here yet. Doesn’t look like a white Christmas is happening for us.
Love these!!
Those lunch boxes are great. My kids will love them
Those boxes would look great in my kids’ lunch bags!
Those are super cute!
I enjoy reading your blog and sharing it with my 9 year old daughter. She continually asks for a “lunchable” and I continually say “NO”. Oh, the lunch box drama!
Perhaps a bento box that looks like a lunchable with the same compartments would be a great compromise. Congrats on the book!
Many thanks! And that is totally the idea. Give her a Lunchable-like lunch and I bet she loves it. Kids just seem to love the compartments, etc.
so cute!
Looking forward to your cookbook since I love the blog. My son started kindergarten this year, so that is what prompted me to start following your blog…I was clueless about what to pack him for lunch everyday! Thanks for the chance to win!
Thanks so much! Boy do I miss the simplicity of the kindergarten year… The homework years are upon me…
Love these! The green one for my hubby- and the pink one for me!
love the blog, my daughter reads it and we talk about what Parker eats and what she wants in her lunch
That’s awesome! It took a long time before I even told Parker about this blog. Now that he knows, he loves the idea that his lunches are “famous.”
I use your ideas, as well as Parker’s, for my own lunches. What deliciousness! My lunches are never boring these days.
They are very neat! Thanks for the give away
Looking forward to your cookbook for sure. Also, I love bento boxes.
Lunch Box Blues lurker here. Thanks for the great lunch ideas and the great give away!
My middle son, who has Asperger’s, would LOVE a Bento box! He does not like squishy sandwiches, and likes the orderliness of small sectioned containers.
Great looking lunch gear! I’m so glad to know your blog will continue. Your posts and photos are inspirational. Looking forward to the book! Happy holidays!
Congratulations on the book! I can’t wait to see if you include small containers of truffle salt in the photos! (FYI – for my daughter it’s sesame oil.)
And thanks for doing the giveaway, there’s some great gear I’ve never seen before!
cute bentos! i am excited about the book.
I love bentos! Very cool!
Thanks for the chance to win the bentos — i love anything that can make lunch more exciting!
Very cute and I am also excited about the book!
Very cute boxes, my girls would love them. They are perfect b/c they have small sections, and they are small eaters. I am always amazed at the amount of food that Parker is sent with. My girls eat about 1/2 that during a school day!
Ha! Parker is able to really pack it away. And he wants a snack as soon as he comes home from school! Luckily, he’s old enough now that we’re able to push dinner as late as 6:45. It’s a refreshing change from the days of 5 or 5:30.
Very cute! I’d use them for myself.
Awww…I just bought a Bento box in Concord today! But please enter me as we can use two. (I saw you on Main St but you were talking to some people so I didn’t want to interrupt you to say hi! Small world.)
Ha! Next time stop me and say hi! Parker and I were just out doing Christmas shopping.
I love your blog! I pack a lunch everyday for my 31 year old boyfriend. Let me tell you, your son is a MUCH better eater than my guy!!! You have given me tons of great ideas which I have in turn passed on to others! Keep it up!! Cute Bentos btw!
Ha! Thanks! Of course, Parker doesn’t have much choice. Our house tends to have a lot of unusual and adventurous foods come through it. He has to eat it or go without!
thanks for the giveaways~! i pack lunches for my husband and i every day
Thanks for all your great ideas! My daughter is more of a grazer so although the lunch I pack may seem huge she eats some on the drive to school (after eating breakfast), some at snack and lunch, some as the final bell rings and the rest on the drive home-if it works for her I’m good
I hear you. If they are happy and well fed, it’s easy for us to be happy (no matter what system they prefer!).
I have been reading your blog for a few months now. I love it! My boyfriend and I are now Tuesday night quiche freaks so we can have leftovers for our lunches on Wednesday.
That is awesome. I think Parker would live on quiche alone.
Can’t wait for the book! Your blog has inspired me to start packing lunches.
Thanks so very much!
I’m looking forward to your new book. I’m working on interesting, flavorful lunches for my husband. The challenges are similar.
Ha! I hear you!
Love quiche! Love bento boxes! LOVE winter break!
Cute– love bentos; have been looking for one.
