So, so tired this morning.
Not only did I stay up way past my bedtime to watch the election returns. I also got a late visitor.
Around 1 a.m…. “Daddy! There’s no water in my cup.”
Around 2 a.m…. “Daddy! I still can’t fall back to sleep.”
Around 2:20 a.m. “Daddy! I STILL can’t fall back to sleep.”
So eventually I decided to just bring him into my bed. And, of course, he fell right to sleep.
Only to wake up for the day around 6 a.m.
Which is why breakfast was a super easy smoothie — brown bananas, Greek yogurt, milk and strawberries — and some browned Canadian bacon.
The leftovers of both landed in his lunch box.
Yesterday’s experiment with cucumber rolled in whole-wheat tortillas slathered with cream cheese paid off. He loved them. So he got two more of those today. Add his current favorite yogurt, a lemon Greek variety.
I’ll try to be more creative tomorrow. Tonight’s dinner is rosemary-port braised short ribs. Perfect for what is supposed to be a snowy evening. Now if only I could find the oomph to go get wood for the stove…
