Just baked these this morning – fantastic! Really tender and full-flavored. Cardamom is one of my favorite spices. Also loving “The Back in the Day Bakery Cookbook.” The recipe for Drunk Blondies is a to die for. I think I’ll be trying their Peach Cobbler muffins with your suggested substitute of white whole wheat flour next. Thanks!

When I pack liquid honey, I put it in a little container so he can drizzle it over the bread and cheese himself just before eating it. That spares a lot of mess (though I’m sure he still manages to get himself and everyone without a 50-yard radius sticky). But the honeycomb is sturdier. And in a chilled lunch box it doesn’t tend to drizzle much.

Ha! I love that, “a feeling for them…” What a great line. My son could eat tacos, both steak and fish, every day for every meal. He would never tire of them if I let him. But tonight, I made lamb carpaccio. Not steak tacos. He tried it and ate it, but didn’t fall in love with it.

And thanks so much! You’re right about no refrigerator in the classroom (though wouldn’t that be nice). I pack his lunch in an insulated lunch box. I also put an ice pack in it so things stay nice and cool. Beyond that, I also pack hot and cold items that need to stay especially hot or cold (such as the grilled items) in preheated thermoses. The combination keeps everything just right until his lunch at noon.

I can’t say I blame Parker… matzo is so bland! After being forced to eat it during Passover, people of Jewish faith don’t really have a taste for it either
